The ClearCorrect Alternative to Traditional Braces

Convenient Orthodontic Services in Harker Heights

Since 2006, ClearCorrect has been offering a teeth-straightening alternative to traditional braces (typically made of metal wire) in the form of clear aligners. Knights Family Dentistry is certified to offer them to our patients, and this treatment is available to both teenagers and adults.

ClearCorrect aligners are similar to some other clear-aligner systems on the market, such as Invisalign. They’re custom-made and removable, and they work by gradually moving teeth, creating a corrected, desirable smile. Clear Correct aligners are made from a durable material called Zendura, designed to resist wear and tear, under biting pressure in particular.

Who should use ClearCorrect?

ClearCorrect can be used by adults and children, though we recommend a consultation to determine the option that best suits your dental needs. This could apply to more complicated dental cases such as seniors missing some of their teeth, or children who may not have their molars. ClearCorrect has been successfully used to treat a number of orthodontic conditions, including:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Spacing between teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crooked or turned (rotated) teeth.

ClearCorrect Benefits

If the idea of wearing wire braces doesn’t appeal to you, ClearCorrect might be an ideal alternative. These aligners offer the following benefits:

  • Because they are custom-fit and clear, the aligners are virtually undetectable and therefore are more aesthetically pleasing.
  • Unlike wire braces, they are minimally invasive and can be removed when you want to clean your teeth, eat, or drink.
  • ClearCorrect aligners are resistant to clouding from wear so they stay clear and “invisible.”

As your Harker Heights dentistry practice, we can help you determine whether ClearCorrect is the right treatment option for you. Please contact us anytime with questions about this service or to schedule an appointment.

How does it work?

ClearCorrect offers three treatment options:

  • Limited 6 is a set of six aligners designed to treat the full arch. It’s a suitable option for minor adjustments.
  • Limited 12 is a set of 12 aligners, and is an ideal option for more extensive adjustments.
  • Unlimited allows an unlimited number of readjustments and as many sets of aligners as your dentist needs to realign your teeth. This treatment could last up to three years.

First, we determine whether ClearCorrect is a good fit for your dental needs, and if so, which type of treatment would be best. We create and send your records (those could include photographs, X-rays, and impressions) to the ClearCorrect lab. There, a 3-D model of your teeth and a computerized representation of your teeth before and after treatment are created, and a treatment plan is mapped.

The lab creates your custom aligners using digital mapping and molding technology, and you’re notified of your treatment setup. You can then also view the computerized representation of the “before” and the “after” and participate in the approval and adjustment process.

The treatment usually consists of four phases, each phase marked by wearing a new set of aligners for three weeks. You’re expected to wear your aligners at all times, except when eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing. Throughout the treatment period you’ll also have regular checkups with us so that we can evaluate your progress and make any necessary adjustment while we move through all the stages — until you obtain your new smile.

Frequently Asked Questions About ClearCorrect

Some dental plans do include coverage for orthodontic devices and might cover a portion of the treatment of the total cost. We’re happy to check with your provider on your behalf.

It depends on the type of treatment you choose and your needs. If you need minor adjustments, we might choose Limited 6 for you, with six sets of aligners. For more complicated cases, Unlimited might be the best choice, and might take up to three years to complete.

ClearCorrect, just like any orthodontic treatment, may not be suitable for everyone, so it’s best to discuss your needs and options with your dentist.

You’re expected to wear your aligners about 22 hours per day, excluding the times when you’re brushing, flossing, eating, or drinking.

Yes, we recommend that you wear a retainer we’ll prescribe after your treatment. Like the ClearCorrect aligners, the retainers are also clear and discreet.
